Windows Vista Setup and Basics >> Windows Vista Installation Step by Step!

Line

The installation of Windows Vista is easier and faster than the one in previous versions like Windows XP.

1. Create a new partition that is at least 20 GB in size. Although Windows Vista itself needs 5-8 GB you should calculate for additional space used by programs and your files. Now, start Windows XP and Insert the Windows Vista DVD in your drive.

2. If you have an internet connection, you are able to include the latest updates.

3. Enter your product key in the next screen. You will find it on the back of the Vista DVD case or in the beta registration e-mail from Microsoft. Confirm with Next and accept the license agreement. Since we do not recommend an update we suggest you go with the advanced installation method.

4. Windows now asks ”Where do you want to install Windows?”. Select your new partition and confirm (again) with Next. And thats all you need: Windows Vista performs the rest of the installation automatically.

After approx. 30 minutes (depending on your computers performance) you can make different user settings like setting up accounts, choosing a start menu icon or set the time zone. After that you are going straight to the new Windows Vista sesktop!
