Windows News >> Windows Vista: Prices for all product editions leaked to the web (Tuesday, August 29th 2006)

Big news today. Apparently Microsoft Canada leaked the final prices for Windows Vista and all editions (SKU, stock keeping unit) to their website. After a couple of bloggers wrote about that, it was immediatelly pulled from the official site - but the damage was done. Surprisingly, Microsoft already released the prices to Amazon.com for pre-order. The next surprise is, that Amazon has the exact date the Vista (consumer) launch. Drumroll, please!

Windows Vista Home Basic, Home Premium, Business and Ultimate will be available on
January 30th, 2007.

We at W-Tweaks.com are pretty sure that a couple of new job offers will be available over at Microsoft and perhaps even Amazon. Heres the complete price list according to Amazon.com.

Although we think that the price for an additional license is not appealing at all, the regular prices for the full or upgrade versions are pretty fair. Remember that Windows XP Professional still costs 247$ officially so we think that the pricing for Business, Home Basic and Home Premium are pretty much justified.

Since these prices are official you can except better deals at your dealership and especially during the first weeks of the Vista release when Microsoft is promoting the system widely. We guess that a lot of users will be shocked that Windows Vista Ultimate will sell for the proud price of 399$ (full) and 259$ (upgrade). However, its not just that this edition will contain every single feature ofall Windows Vista product editions but also some future premium offers that Microsoft will supply to all Ultima owners - however, its still to be determined what Microsoft has in mind!

What do you think about the prices? Unfair or not? Shoot me an e-mail and Ill publish the most interesting oppinions here.
