At the Vista RTM lab Toshiba presents a notebook of the future that includes features that are currently only available with Windows Vista. Impressive is the “Toshiba Edge Display”, a secondary display (OLED) on which you can quickly check all kinds of information (e.g. E-Mails, appointments, tasks, media player) without even turning on the laptop. We especially like the design of the new Toshiba R400 which is a modern mixture of white and black. Nice!
Active notifications So what is the advantag of this Edge display? Using Windows SideShow you are are free to quickly check for example flight information while running around the airport without having to start your laptopt, boot up the system and wait for Outlook to load up. Additionally this display connects to the internet. Using the so called “Poll Mode” the laptop checks for open Wireless or mobile networks (“3G”) and automatically syncs your e-mail.
