Pricing a product is a complex story over at Microsoft: The Redmondians will try to make additional Windows Vista licenses available for families with one PC. They offer two Windows Vista Home Premium licenses over the “Vista Ultimate Extras” channel that you only get when you buy the “Vista Ultimate” edition (399 USD). These licenses will then be available for only 99$ each.
So the deal is: You buy one Ultimate and get 2 licenses for Home Premium - and that for a good price of 99$. However, this only works with the FPP editions (Full Product Package) and NOT the OEM versions you will find preinstalled on your machine. Using your credit card only you are able to purchase these Home Premium editions. Microsoft then goes ahead and sends you a product key. Since ALL editions of Windows Vista are included on the DVD you don’t need another disc. Just enter the key and Home Premium will install at once.
